In memory of a mate

26/03/2008 9:30:47 AM
MORE than 1000 mourners packed a tiny Horsley Park church last week to say a final goodbye to young friend and teammate Mark Tresoglavic.

Mr Tresoglavic died earlier this month of Ewing's sarcoma, an aggressive

form of bone cancer that typically strikes the young. He was age 23.

Those closest to Mr Tresoglavic during his 11-month battle shared their fondest memories of their mate "Treso" with the Champion:

"Tres was good at everything but what he was excellent at was being a

best mate. One of the best things about him was the way he made you feel comfortable in any situation."

Mark Sartoretto

"Tres had to have it his way on the boat, it was his thing. He used to love fishing. Tres was the type of guy that if you threw your rod over there in one direction and you caught a fish, his rod would be straight over in that same spot. He was a prankster, always up for a laugh."

Daniel Lipari

"He wasn't a perfect person. He had a lot of shortcomings but he always

turned his shortcomings to his advantage and would use them, if nothing else, just to entertain everyone. One of the ways you knew he liked you was if he hit you randomly. Then you knew you were in his good books."

Adrian Sartoretto

"Every Wednesday night we'd have a few hands of poker. He always thought he was the best. He ended up going to a poker tournament in Emu Plains. He was so excited but after two hands he got out. He loved going to his supporters' page and seeing how many people cared about him. He was touched."

Anthony Napoleone

"He's the coolest guy I've ever known."
