The Vietnamese community use the Tet holiday to spend time with their family,

worship at the family altar and visit the graves of their ancestors.

Mr Huynh's exhibition, entitled Tet Nguyen Dan, explores the dimensions of the Buddhist temples, shopping centre activity, private family ceremonies and the lion dances in Cabramatta.

Canley Heights resident Cao Nam Le said: "We have lived in Australia for 18 years and every Tet our whole family, including grandparents, children and grandchildren, always get together to prepare our own banh chung.

"We maintain this tradition in Australia because we believe our cultural identity should be reinforced and passed down to our grandchildren."

The Tet Nguyen Dan series is the latest artwork to be added to the Rituals and Traditions exhibition series at the Fairfield City Museum and Gallery.

The exhibition will run until March 2.
