BORN in China in 1908, moving to India before World War II and coming to Australia in the 1980s, Young Yuan Chu has seen a lot.

Family and friends gathered at Villawood Nursing Home to celebrate his birthday on Friday.

Mr Chu's son, Eugene, said his father was very proud to receive congratulations from the Queen, Premier Morris Iemma, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and local MPs. He is pictured with Eugene (left), daughter-in-law Susan (Nung-Fang), great-granddaughter Cyanne, one, and Blaxland MP Jason Clare. Picture: Gene Ramirez
