Friendly day out

20/08/2008 5:00:00 AM
Keep an eye out for this bright team at Stocklands Wetherill Park on Friday as they raise money for the Cancer Council.

It will be Julie Saville's 10th Daffodil Day as a fund-raiser and her third as a team leader.

''I just love doing it,'' Ms Saville, of Edensor Park, said.

''I've had family and friends that have had cancer and if I make a difference, well that's great.''

While the team of five friends enjoy the day, Ms Saville said they also experience the sombre side of Daffodil Day.

''You get a few people on the day who will come and buy something and they'll tell you about their friend or husband or wife who has cancer and about what's going on in their lives,'' Ms Saville said.

''We give them a number where they can call if they need help.''

Ms Saville will be joined by her youngest daughter Chloe, 14, for the last few hours of the fund-raiser.

Details: Cancer Council support line, 131 120.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
