Mounties make semis

Mounties secured a place in the Jim Beam Cup semi-finals with a 42-16 victory over Erina on Sunday. The side moved into third place, two points behind first with two games remaining in the regular rugby league season. Next game is on Sunday against Campbelltown Eagles at Campbelltown Showground, 3pm.

Eagles top of comp

Bonnyrigg White Eagles wrapped up the minor premiership with a 0-0 draw against Liverpool Bossy at Ernie Smith Reserve, Moorebank on Sunday. The Eagles sit on 47points with a round remaining before the finals, four points clear of their nearest rivals. The Eagles play Central Coast at Bonnyrigg Sports Centre on Sunday, 3pm.

Fun and games

Community First Step will hold a Mini Olympics for people with a disability at Cecil Hills Park on Wednesday, August 27 from 10.30am to 1.30pm. . A sausage sizzle lunch will be provided. Bookings: Simone Hayes, 97272791.

Lions relegated

Fairfield City Lions will be relegated into division one after Sydney University beat them 4-2 on Sunday. The Lions have three wins from 21 games this season.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
