STUDENTS from St Johns Park High School have proved again that they are among the best when it comes to table tennis.
On June 23, year 12 students Jenny On and Jane Nguyen won gold representing the school's girls' team at the NSW Secondary Schools Girls States Double Challenge.
Two days later the boys team had an equally pleasing result.
Year 12 student Joshua Tieu, year 10 students Johnny Tran and Kevin and Steven Lam, and year 8 students Winson Lu, James Ma, Christopher Bui and Ian Lauv, were among the students participating in the boys' event.
Joshua and Johnny successfully made it to the doubles final in the seniors tournament, but were defeated by Macquarie Fields 11-4, 11-8 in a close match and took home silver.
Winson and James together claimed bronze in the junior tournament, while Christopher Bui and Ian Lauv won silver.
Twins Kevin and Steven Lam, defending champions for two years, defeated Strathfield High School 3-0 in the intermediate tournament. ``I thought it was kind of easy compared to the non-school table tennis tournaments,'' Steven said. ``Too easy,'' added Kevin.
Coaches Thu Vo and Don Ho are now seeking sponsorship to get their teams to the national tournament in Melbourne.
